How to eat healthy to prevent gain is no secret but can be difficult to plan into your everyday life.

Choosing Healthy Colourful Foods
The ideal foods to eat are colourful foods like a traffic light system. Greens, yellows and reds. These are mainly from fresh, frozen or tinned vegetables and fruit.

Greens
These can be any type of leaf that you would put into a salad or cook such as lettuce, rocket, spinach or vine leaves. Also included are any greens that can be used cold or hot or as a desert. Any greens from the bean family like green beans, broad beans etc. Peas, cabbage, broccoli, and leaks. Cucumber or fruit like gooseberries, limes, kiwi apples, or grapes.

Yellows
When choosing any yellow colours include orange colours too. Good foods to eat would be carrots, corn, chick peas, yellow peppers, oranges, mandarins and bananas.

Reds
Beetroot, red cabbage, rhubarb, tomatoes, apples

Preventing Weight Gain
Eating foods suggested from the colourful foods above can help prevent weight gain as well as provide you with the right amount of vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants and calcium for your internal body.

A Healthy Colourful Smoothie
It can be difficult eating your way through these foods especially if you lead a busy lifestyle so you have little time to prepare a meal. Investing in a smoothie blender would help to solve this problem as you could create soups, smoothies or blended vegetables or sauces for pasta which would save a lot of your time.

Meats That Are Healthy For You
Any type of fish is good for you especially tinned fish like sardines, mackerel and tuna as these contain omega 3 which is excellent for your body. Fresh or frozen fish is good too and try to choose breaded fish rather than battered if you have a choice.

Chicken is also good as it contains protein and can be put into a variety of dishes, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, English etc. Both fish and chicken are low in fat.

Bacon, pork, gammon, sausages, beef and lamb should only be eaten once or twice a week as these meats contain more fat.

Allow Some Treats
Cakes, biscuits, chocolate, pizza, alcohol, sugary drinks etc should be eaten more as a treat in moderation.

Exercise
Exercise plays a big part in reducing your weight or maintaining it at a certain level. Depending on your age, height and physical ability it can be difficult to walk let alone run or cycle so using the traffic light system can help to play a major part in keeping your body healthy from the inside out.

  1. With healthy foods dieters can maintain their weight loss, people have to stop snacking, if they really want to maintain their weight loss!
    My favourite foods are green ones – kiwi, grapes, cabbage and etc.
